Today, December 6, 2024, the “Integrity is a priority in customs” Campaign was launched by the Customs Service, the National Anti-Corruption Center and the EU High Level Advisers’ Mission.
The campaign will run until December 11, in all border customs posts. Persons undergoing the customs control will receive information materials about the risks and consequences of corruption actions, as well as contact details for reporting cases of corruption or inappropriate behavior.
The campaign debuted at the Leușeni Border Customs Post, where the first information materials were distributed by the Director of the Customs Service, Alexandru Iacub, and the EU High Level Adviser on Customs and Tax Policy, Rosario de Blasio. In his interaction with the people crossing the border, the Director of the Customs Service emphasized: “The campaign reflects our commitment to prevent and combat corruption through strict measures and by promoting zero tolerance towards any non-compliant practices. We aim to strengthen institutional integrity and educate both officials and people crossing the border about the risks associated with offering or accepting bribes.”
Rosario de Blasio, EU High Level Adviser, stated: “By simplifying legislation, increasing transparency, automating processes, strengthening professional ethics and improving working conditions, the necessary premises are created for an environment of integrity and eliminating corruption factors.”
The information campaign is part of a series of measures, such as anti-corruption training for employees, promoting zero tolerance towards corruption, creating strict monitoring and reporting mechanisms, as well as educating the public on the risks of offering bribes. All of these actions are taken to emphasize the importance of transparency, ethics, and integrity.
