On 22-29 November, about 160 customs officials from the Northern region of the Republic of Moldova participated in three training sessions organised in Balti as part of the training campaign for customs staff on the changes to be introduced with the entry into force of the new Customs Code on 1 January 2024.  

Training sessions were carried out by the Customs Service specialists who participated in the process of drafting and adjusting the new Customs Code and its implementing Regulation. They presented in detail the main provisions and innovations of the new Customs Code in the areas of: customs control, customs decisions, customs procedures including special procedures, origin of goods, certification of goods, customs debt and guarantees, etc. 

This action is a continuation of the nationwide awareness raising campaign on the implementation of the new Customs Code, its innovations and benefits, organised for the business environment on 24 October – 16 November. During the campaign, over 500 business people took part in the information events in Cahul, Comrat, Balti, Briceni, Causeni, Ungheni and Chisinau. The training sessions for customs officials are taking place within 22 November – 21 December. The campaign is organised and carried out by the Customs Service in partnership with the EU High Level Advisers’ Mission.
