Yesterday’s information session, which brought together about 85 interns enrolled in the Joint Internship Program of the European Union and the Government of the Republic of Moldova, focused on topics of anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and human rights.

The event began with a presentation on Anticorruption and criminal assets recovery system in the Republic of Moldova. Žydrūnas Bartkus, EU High Level Adviser on Anti-Money Laundering and Assets Recovery and Management, emphasized the importance of an integrated approach to combating corruption. Interns had the possibility to get familiarized with mechanisms for recovering illicit assets and their impact on transparency and trust in public institutions in the Republic of Moldova. Besides, representatives of the National Anticorruption Centre and the National Integrity Agency delivered presentations on their areas of activity and engaged interns in interactive quizzes, awarding the right answers with special prizes.

In the second part, Gabriela Scutea, EU High Level Adviser on Justice and Prosecution, made a presentation on observing human rights standards in justice processes and beyond.

Information sessions for interns are an integral part of the Internship programme, allowing interns to gain in-depth knowledge from all the sectors of the public administration.
