Kalman Mizsei was the European Union Special Representative for Moldova between 2007 and 2011. In this capacity he was mainly responsible for representing the European Union in the Transnistrian settlement process. He initiated the confidence building process in 2007 to the Moldovan government. He was the founding Head of Mission of the EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine in 2014-15. Kalman was Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Regional Director for Europe and the CIS Countries in 2001 – 2006. He was Chairman of the Hungarian Export Import Bank in 1995 to 1997. Kalman has a PhD in Economics from the Corvinus University in Hungary.
He has joined the European Union High Level Advisers’ Mission in August 2019 to help the Moldovan government to strengthen its reintegration policy with a particular emphasis on confidence building measures.
